My guest this week is the wonderful Araxi Lindsey! Araxi is a Motion Picture Hair Stylist, and she has been the Department Head of Hair for ABC’s Blackish for the last six years.

Araxi explored several different career choices (counseling, fashion, and culinary arts to name a few) before finally settling on cosmetology. But it wasn’t until the one and only Jada Pinkett Smith walked through her salon door that Araxi even knew what motion picture hair styling was. Jada took Araxi under her wing and opened up a new world to her, and the rest, as they say, is history.

In this episode, Araxi and I talk about her role as Department Head of Hair, how important hair styles are to character building and storytelling, how she creates looks that are timeless, and how she deals with the burnout that comes from such a demanding workload.
